What a week for Orange Eventing at Blenheim International Horse Trials for Orange's first CCI***. Orange enjoyed showing off at the trot up on Wednesday, and settled in well, giving us all cause for concern with his over enthusiastic rolling!

He warmed up well for his dressage, under the watchful eye of team trainer Rob Lumb, and put his best foot forward in the arena to score a 49.

An easy day on Friday, with torrential rain on Friday night before cross country day on Saturday. Cue a panic shopping trip to Horses in Sport to buy the worlds largest studs! Problems were spread around the course, with the brush corners at 5 and the arrowhead after the dew pond seeming the bogey fences but the Golden Wonder sailed around for a foot perfect clear round.

There were no worries at Sundays trot up, and a beautiful show jumping clear finished off a perfect weekend. Orange finished in 26th place of 84 starters with only 19 double clears.
Zippi 6th Goring Novice
Ace 4th Goring ON
Basil Goring BE100

Another busy weekend with 4 horses at Goring Heath horse trials near Pangbourne. Saint was having his 3rd outing at BE100. His dressage has improved with every outing and now he just needs to learn to relax in the walk in order to get a winning score. He went on to jump a lovely double clear and earn his first foundation points.

Zippi didn't enjoy the firm going but produced a polite and obedient test and a speedy double clear to finish 6th and win another point!

Back again for day 2 with Ace and Basil. Ace was having his first Open Novice run after his break. He enjoyed himself almost too much in the dressage, jumped a beautiful clear SJ and was pure class XC. He finished 4th and looked as if he was really enjoying his job again. We could not be happier.

Last but not least, Basil. His tests are ever improving but a few annoying mistake have stopped his marks from showing this. He was a bit too over enthusiastic in the Showjumping and clear XC and seems more than ready to step up to novice next time out.

Stan on his way to a prize!
Pinky showing off

A rare non eventing outing for Team Orange on Saturday to Swallowfield EC. Zippi was second in his first dressage test, although unfortunately not in the qualifier! Stan and I had our first dressage outing in 2 years and managed 65% in our first test and just off 70% in the second. Go Stan.

Sunday was Pinky's turn for an 'educational' if not prize winning outing. It wasn't really his day in any phase, but we definitely saw flashes of brilliance to come and more mileage and experience are all that is needed.
