2017-2018 Event Reports

Very cold and wet day at Calmsden yesterday with Heidi and OJ. Heidi had the worst of the sideways rain but produced another super consistent performance to finish 5th. She has had a great season, being placed every time out and although ground conditions this year have meant she hasn’t done as much as we had planned, she is a big horse and the extra time won’t do her any harm.

OJ did a lovely test in a very competitive open 100 section against lots of experienced horses. He hasn’t ever jumped off muddy ground before and was green showjumping but will have learned a lot from the experience and jumped a beautiful steady clear xc.

Poor Orange has picked up a minor injury which, although not serious, was enough to prevent him running at Little Downham. He will be fine in a week or two but unfortunately this rules out our trip to Pau. Really disappointing as everyone has worked really hard and he has been feeling on top form but there is always another competition and only one Orange

Amazing, if slightly damp week at the stunning Blair Castle international Horse Trials in Scotland with Bernie contesting his first CCI***.

With the first horse inspection passed, it was on to the dressage, and we were delighted with a super calm and relaxed test to score 27.7, just behind the leader, Tom McEwen.

The XC course was testing, with lots of technical

questions, but we hoped that th challenging terrain would suit him. Bernie was a total class act xc, posting a near foot perfect clear round 18 seconds inside the time!!

He trotted up beautifully on Sunday morning in the rain, then had a long wait to show jump in the late afternoon. A beautiful, obedient round with one unlucky pole clinched 3rd place in a tight finish. Super proud of the little black pony.

Last minute outing for Bernie to Somerford Park on Friday for a final prep run before Blair Castle. All boxes ticked with a 25 dressage and a super steady double clear.

Back at Somerford for Heidi and OJ today. OJ was competing in his 3rd event and has such a lovely attitude. A lovely test for 27.5, a great clear around the very spooky showjumping and clear XC with a few time to finish 8th.

Heidi also did a smart test for 30.5 - the novice test with a serpentine and reinback is hard for a big young horse in a small arena. Foot perfect clear showjumping and charged around the xc inside the time to finish 4th.

Huge thanks to Team Taylor for a job well done

Heidi was a star at Aston, jumping a lovely double clear to finish 3rd in her second novice event.

Delighted with OJ today contesting his second event - the 5 year old class at Homme house. A super relaxed and obedient test, last fence down show jumping and a lovely steady clear XC. A little ⭐️ and a serious prospect for the future.

Another lovely day at Gatcombe. The legend that is Zippi Jazzman jumped a second immaculate clear round to finish 3rd in the ROR championships. One of only 2 horses to jump triple clear, his 2 too fast time penalties xc cost him the win but he thoroughly enjoyed his weekend and we are super proud of him.

Bernie had the first fence down show jumping before jumping a beautiful round. He made 2 green errors cross country but he hasn’t run since Tattersalls and this was the toughest track he has jumped so far. He will have learned a lot for the run and showed what a class horse he will be.

Huge thanks to Izzy for doing such an amazing job and to Alex van Tuyll and Becca Ross for all their help behind the scenes. Amazing results from all the other horses a credit to great team work.

Lovely day at Gatcombe. Zippi jumped a phenomenal double clear (one of only 3) to lie 4th over night with the second round of jumping tomorrow afternoon.

Bernie did a beautiful, relaxed and confident test for a 31, his best score so far at 3 star level. Could not be more thrilled with him, and so beautifully ridden by Izzy.
