A flying start to the season for Team Orange at Isleham horse trials in Cambridgeshire. It was well worth the drive for a dry day with excellent going considering the recent weather. Basil was very pleased to be out and added sound effects to his test. He was unlucky to tip a rail in the Showjumping but produced a classy clear round cross country.

Scooter was also fairly jolly in the dressage. He jumped an amazing round in the show jumping and was clear XC. By virtue of the fact that the intermediate cross country caused plenty of problems, Scooter finished on second place, qualifying for the intermediate championships at Gatcombe.

Very exciting news for the Orange Eventing team - Lyneham Heath Equestrian have very generously offered to sponsor us for the 2014 season. Lyneham Heath boasts the most amazing facilities with over 200 XC fences to suit horses of all levels, a full course of show jumps on grass and training available from the one and only Owen Moore. We are very grateful to Mrs Sandberg for this great opportunity. Check out and follow them on Facebook and Twitter for up to date information.

Orange at Unicorn

It's only a few weeks until the start of the event season, if the weather ever lets up. We took Saint, Pinky, Basil, Orange and Zippi to unicorn for some more Showjumping practice. They all jumped very well and Orange particularly enjoyed himself.

Today we took 3 horses to Nigel and Ann Taylor's fantastic new all weather XC schooling ground at Aston le Walls. Basil and Scooter showed they are raring to go and Saint coped exceptionally well with the buzzy atmosphere.

Scooter and Basil are entered for Isleham horse trials. The others will start their campaign when the ground is drier.

Preparations for the start of the 2014 season are now well underway at Team Orange, despite the horrendous weather. Orange contested two mediums at Summehouse EC, coming second in both classes despite a few airs above the ground. The new lorry made its debut outing to Unicorn with Orange, Scooter, Zippi, Basil and Saint. All went well and seemed pleased to be out and about again.

Our vet, Tom Campbell has been today to give the horses their pre season checks. We feel this is vitally important so that Tom can assess what is 'normal' for each horse. Our team chiropractor, Leigh Miller and physio Pennie Hooper will also check the horses over before they start competing.

Orange Eventing are pleased to welcome a new face for the 2014 season from Laura Shears Eventing - Kings Fancy aka 'Nancy'. Bred and originally produced by Mary King, Nancy is by the prolific event sire Rock King out of Mary's foundation mare Kings Mistress (a full sister to international showjumper No Complaints by Louella Inshallah). Nancy's best result to date is runner up position at Bramham CCI***  and she has completed several four star events.

Season Review:

2013 has been an amazing year for Orange Eventing, with all the horses going well and stepping up to the next level. The horses have finished the season without injury (touching wood!!!) and we are very excited about their prospects for 2014.

Orange has had a fantastic year, with 3 placings at OI level, a place at advanced level and double clears at all three of his 3 star runs! We can't wait for next season!

The super reliable Scooter Alley has jumped double clears at intermediate, two star and advanced level, and clocked up more points. Scooter has earned his place on the Orange Eventing team, and we will pick and choose competitions to suit him for next year.

Team stalwart Zippi Jazzman has consolidated his form at novice level with several good placings and a clear around the CIC* at Hopetoun.

The beautiful Picture Perfect has shown his ability in his first few pre novice competitions and will hopefully quickly upgrade to novice next season.

New addition Impromptu has made great progress, starting his competition career at intro level with Brioney and finishing the season with double clears and prizes at novice level. He is an exciting future prospect.

Huge thanks to the genius that is Owen Moore and to everyone who has helped make 2013 a great season.
