Hopetoun CIC*** dressage
Final preparations Hopetoun CIC***

Orange's dressage did not go according to plan. Owen had been schooling him in the double bridle, which he is very happy in under normal circumstances. Not in his test - which was spoiled by tension and unsteadiness in the contact. Very disappointing

The show jumping was situated in front of Hopetoun House and surrounded by trade stands with lots of atmosphere. We were thrilled with the way that Zippi jumped, and he was unlucky to tip a rail on the smallest fence of the course - a gappy upright going downhill.

The one star XC had several difficult questions but Zippi was on great form and flew round without problems. A great international debut and he will have learned a lot from the experience.
Zippi Hopetoun CIC

Hopetoun looks to be a beautiful event, although somewhat plagued by thunderstorms at the moment! Orange worked well and hopefully feels good ready for tomorrow. Zippi produced a calm and obedient test to score 53.1 in his first international competition. He jumps tomorrow.

The drive took us about 9 hours, with a few stops to check the ponies. The boys are settled in at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre and worked well last night. Off to Hopetoun today for Zippi's dressage.

Zippi went for a quick school at Lyneham today in preparation for his international debut this weekend. Lyneham have a fantastic set of new show jumps, complete with wishing well jump stands and scary water tray. Hopefully he is now ready for action! Lorry is almost packed - sure to have forgotten something!
