Goring Heath

Another busy weekend with 4 horses at Goring Heath horse trials near Pangbourne. Saint was having his 3rd outing at BE100. His dressage has improved with every outing and now he just needs to learn to relax in the walk in order to get a winning score. He went on to jump a lovely double clear and earn his first foundation points.

Zippi didn't enjoy the firm going but produced a polite and obedient test and a speedy double clear to finish 6th and win another point!

Back again for day 2 with Ace and Basil. Ace was having his first Open Novice run after his break. He enjoyed himself almost too much in the dressage, jumped a beautiful clear SJ and was pure class XC. He finished 4th and looked as if he was really enjoying his job again. We could not be happier.

Last but not least, Basil. His tests are ever improving but a few annoying mistake have stopped his marks from showing this. He was a bit too over enthusiastic in the Showjumping and clear XC and seems more than ready to step up to novice next time out.

Dressage Divas

A rare non eventing outing for Team Orange on Saturday to Swallowfield EC. Zippi was second in his first dressage test, although unfortunately not in the qualifier! Stan and I had our first dressage outing in 2 years and managed 65% in our first test and just off 70% in the second. Go Stan.

Sunday was Pinky's turn for an 'educational' if not prize winning outing. It wasn't really his day in any phase, but we definitely saw flashes of brilliance to come and more mileage and experience are all that is needed.

Training

Ace and Pinky went schooling at Lyneham Heath yesterday. Ace jumped really well and we are very pleased with his progress - he will be competing at Goring Heath in the open novice. Pinky has been on the back burner (again!) as we have been so busy with the other horses, but came out very grown up and jumped brilliantly.

Wellington

Day one at Wellington and two very good ponies with two directionally challenged jockeys. This event was a big step up for Saint, with the trade stands around the show jumping arena, and a much more grown up XC course. He rose to the challenge, with another calm, rideable test followed by an awesome double clear, but for the fact that Owen crossed his tracks on the way into the water. Saint knows that he jumped a clear round!

Basil suffered a satnav failure in the dressage, followed by another confident double clear. Back tomorrow with the big boys.

Amazing boys at Wellington day 2. Scooter did a 65% test and a double clear. He is just a legend! Orange led the dressage in his advanced section on 71.7% and jumped a beautiful clear Showjumping. We didn't run him cross country as we didn't feel that he needed another run before Blenheim.

Solihull againĀ

Solihull Day 2 a great educational outing for Basil and Saint. Saint was competing in his first BE100 and we were thrilled with his calm and focused dressage, scoring 65%. He was a bit unsettled Showjumping, due to an incident with a lady attempting to drive her horsebox through an oak tree, but its all part of the learning curve! So one rail down and an awesome clear XC left him just out of the placings.

Basil's dressage tests are ever improving and his marks will reflect this soon when he becomes more consistent in the contact and doesn't become too deep. He was unlucky to have a rail Showjumping but was fantastic XC. Roll on Wellington!
